How do you coax NPR radio journalists to move out of their studio comfort zones and embrace Periscope, Twitter’s video streaming platform?: By creating and delivering in person training with then Assistant News Director, Pat St. Claire. We provided an overview of the application and streamed a “how to” on Periscope that was easy to follow and duplicate.

The Results

The training was delivered to 10 journalists who attended via teleconference and the app itself. Four of the participants began using Periscope for personal uses shortly after. They became proficient enough with the concept of social media video streaming that they graduated to using Facebook Live once that application launched in 2016.
